Opportunity: THE VISIT – A CHANCE TO MEET SCOTLAND

The Visit is a unique event bringing together the German, Austrian, Swiss and Scottish music industry over four days between the 24th and 28th of April 2016 in Scotland.

Held successfully for the first time in 2014 The Visit forms part of the work undertaken by the Showcase Scotland Export office which is supported by Creative Scotland and is designed to build links between the Key music nations with a view to securing more performance opportunities for Scottish artists and generating business for music promoters, festivals, agents, venues, record labels and publishers from our nations.

Arriving in on Sunday the 24th of April (afternoon) you will be treated to a dinner where you will meet with around 40 of the Scottish music industry. This event is designed for you to meet with some artists, venues, agents, festivals, managers and labels as well as some of our funding organisations. a

On Monday you will be offered a chance to tour Glasgow’s main music venues and hear about the fantastic events they produce ranging from Celtic Connections (a three week festival in January) to the Glasgow International Jazz Festival, which takes place in June. You will then have some free time to explore the city before we host a showcase of some of our finest artist late afternoon. The City of Glasgow will then host for you an official reception to welcome you to our country and after dinner you will be treated to another showcase.

On Tuesday morning we will travel to Stirling, the historical town famed for its Castle and the battle of Bannockburn. We will stop at a whisky distillery on the way and travel through Loch Lomond where you can see some of our most beautiful countryside and stop for a bit of lunch, before arriving at the Golden Lion Hotel, which is home for the next two nights.

The Tolbooth Theatre is one of Scotland’s favorite small theatres that has been transformed from an ancient jail into a unique performance space. A short walk from the hotel, two concerts each day will feature three artists in short sets. Delegates also have the option of visiting Stirling Castle, taking a ghost tour round the old Town and enjoying a whisky tasting session with one of our best malt whisky suppliers.

On the morning of the 28th enjoy a hearty Scottish breakfast before we return to Glasgow, we can either drop you in the city centre if you want to stay in our country a bit longer or at Glasgow Airport.

COST

Each delegate is requested to pay a small registration fee of €150. In return you will receive a contribution of up to £200 per towards your travel costs. Hotels will be provided for you at no cost for the duration of your stay . We also provide breakfast for you each day.

The dinner on Sunday evening, Civic reception on Monday, entrance to the whisky distillery, visit to Stirling Castle, ghost tour of the town and whisky tasting session are all complimentary.
We also provide all ground transport with the exception of airport transfers.

IMPORTANT TRAVEL INFORMATION

We advise you to fly into Glasgow airport and out of Glasgow airport. The journey from Glasgow airport to your hotel in Glasgow is twenty to 30 minutes by taxi (there are plenty of taxis and the hire should cost you around £25). Glasgow airport is actually in Paisley not Glasgow!
