Musicians

Have you registered for FolkWaves? If so log in here. To upload your music click here. If not you can register here.

As a musician, band or record label you want to get your music heard across the world. Unfortunately it’s really hard to do this! We can get UK airplay through our contacts but as it soon as we try to send music off this island it becomes 1. really difficult to find the contacts and 2. really expensive to send more than one CD. You would think as we live in a digital download age all of this would become really easy but it hasn’t!

Hands Up for Trad’s project FolkWaves aims to address this. The musician uploads their latest release (single) to FolkWaves and we make them available to DJs across the world so they can download load them and play them on their radio programmes / podcast etc. We want the public to hear your music and as millions of people still get their diet of music from the radio / internet we know we can help you! At the moment this will be a free service to help promote Scottish music. All downloads will tracked and reports are available for the musicians on the release page.

Why a single?

1 track = focussed promotion = easier for radio shows to know what to play = easier for you to log what is happening with your single and where you can possibly tour in the future.

We also see FolkWaves as an outlet to help you export your music to other markets. If you see you are getting lots of play in different markets then you can search for agents who may be able to get you gigs.

If you want to join us on this project; you will first register as a user on this website and then fill in our our music submission form which includes an high quality MP3 upload. The information on this form will be the basis of your single promotion page.

It will go live on the website and DJ members of the site (not the public) will be able to log in, listen to and download your track after giving us feed back on where they will play the track. The public will not be allowed to get your tracks for free.

So what’s stopping you? Let us help you! Register here.
