FolkWaves hits Australia

NCFF logoWe are delighted to be at the National Celtic Folk Festival, Portarlington Australia, we were are launching FolkWaves to the Australian media. The partnership between Hands up for Trad and the festival came about on our trip to Folk Alliance International in Kansas City back in February.

The National Celtic Folk Festival is Australia’s largest and most diverse celebration of Celtic music and culture held on the Bellarine Peninsula. The festival has a strong track record of cultural partnerships with Scotland for the past three years young musicians from Fèis Rois Ceilidh Trails have been invited to the festival to perform and deliver workshops, and collaborate with young Australian musicians. Last years festival seen the performance of the Fèis Rois Commissioned The Voyage of the Hector by John Sommerville which featured young musicians from Scotland, Australia and Canada. This years festival also plays host to another two fantastic Scottish bands featured on FolkWaves,  The Duplets and Cherrygrove.
