World Play A Strathspey Day 6th May 2023

#WorldPlayAStrathspeyDay is back in 2023! It’s a day when people round the world – record, video and upload themselves playing a strathspey to social media with the hashtag #WorldPlayAStrathspeyDay! This year there is a theme! We have a royal theme this year and are asking people to record strathspeys written for Lords / Ladies / Queens AND Kings. There are plenty to choose from!

Our annual concert will be at Edinburgh’s TradFest at 3pm on the 6th May. It will feature 4 brilliant musicians – Rory Matheson (piano) and Graham Mackenzie, Madeleine Stewart and Adam Sutherland (fiddles). They will play a mix of trad strathspeys, reels, marches and the new official strathspey written for King Charles III.

We are also looking for the audience to join us in a couple of sets of tunes at the end of the concert and join in with the band! We will be making music available to download for you to learn. Remember and bring your instrument to the gig and join in with us!
