Band Name:Blind Venus

Band information:

Blind Venus is a new three-piece band based in Glasgow. The name 'Blind Venus' came from a poem by Mark Alexander Boyd, a 16th-century Scots writer who swore off study, burned his books and instead, went to France to become a mercenary, lawyer, and poet. We have Oisin Murcott on fiddle - Oisin sadly grew up in London, playing mostly Irish tunes he learnt from his mam, before following the good tunes up north to Glasgow. Bryn Pardoe-Mathews on keys - another Englishman up from across the border to live in Glasgow; an astrophysics student by day, we reckon he's the only trad musician to understand complex thermodynamics. Finally, we have Niall Bayne on guitar - a student of Scottish literature and the source of our name's slightly pretentious literary allusions.
