Band Name:Fidra

Band information:

Fidra is a Scottish folk music project led by Leith-based singer-songwriter Craig Salter. Fidra's music is inspired by the natural beauty of Scotland’s landscape and rich musical heritage. Intricate guitar work, profound vocals and soaring fiddle create a unique sound that is both captivating and emotional.

Fidra brings together musicians from across Scotland, including Pedro Cameron (Man of the Minch), Sarah Gallagher, Fraser Hughes (Withered Hand), Adam Milne and Kev Dunne. Fidra’s music evokes elements of traditional Scottish folk music combined with a modern edge, blending a wide range of acoustic and electronic sounds.

Fidra's debut EP 'Broken Ground' was released on 1 July 2022. The songs tell the stories of life around Scotland's coasts and islands, and how communities have changed there over time. Fidra currently recording an album, with new single "First Light" coming out in November 2023.

Fidra's music has received radio coverage on a range of media including BBC Radio Scotland's Afternoon Show, Travelling Folk and The Iain Anderson Show, as well as BBC Radio nan Gàidheal.
