Band Name:Ruben Jarramplas

Band information:

Ruben, originally from Spain but now based in Inverness, is set to burst onto the Scottish musical scene with his gaita (galician pipes) and whistles. With his new project ‘Camino’, that stands both for ‘path’ and ‘journey’ in Spanish, he blends Galician and Scottish traditional styles. Featuring Ollie Moffat on guitar and Rachel Campbell on fiddle this is an excellent opportunity to enjoy some traditional hidden gems, as well as new tunes from Scotland and the north of Spain.

Ruben was born in Plasencia, Spain, but landed in Inverness some years ago. He experiences being a musician through different types of bagpipes and flutes and started out in the world of traditional music with the Gaita as his first instrument. He was lucky enough to learn from bagpipers and whistle players that are leading figures on today’s Galician music scene, such as Anxo Lorenzo or Daniel Bellón. On numerous occasions, he also collaborated in concerts with Carlos Núñez, one of the most acclaimed Spanish bagpipers.
