Trad Music Spotlight: Breabach

Hands Up for Trad’s Trad Music Spotlight is a monthly feature on a band or solo artist. It was first launched in February 2015 and features musicians who are working in the trad scene – both in Scotland and around the world. We asked Breabach a few questions.

What’s happening?
We’ve just finished recording our most recent album ‘Astar’ and we’re looking forward to letting folk hear it and get on the road next month!

Breabach-croppedWhen was the band formed?
Band was formed around 2005 and was officially launched at the Danny Kyle open stage, Celtic Connections.

What excites you about performing Scottish music?
All five of us are very passionate about our music and heritage and it gives us great pleasure to be able to share it with new audiences all across the globe. We also love the social aspect of the music, the best thing in the world is meeting old and new pals and having some tunes!

What’s next for you?
Astar is released on the 11th of March so we’re excited to let everyone hear that. We’re also going on tour in support of this throughout the UK this Feb-April (tour dates here – www.breabach.com/live).
