The Parliament congratulates Aidan O’Rourke

Just lodged @ScotParl motion congratulating Aidan O’Rourke @obanfiddle on winning BBC Radio 2 ‘Musician of the Year’ Award

Motion Number: S4M-09123 – Lodged By: John Finnie
Date Lodged: 21/02/2014

Title: Aidan O’Rourke, BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards Musician of the Year

Motion Text:
That the Parliament congratulates Aidan O’Rourke on being named Musician of the Year at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2014, which were held recently in the Royal Albert Hall, London; understands that Aidan grew up in Oban before moving to the Isle of Seil and began his musical training aged eight; believes that he learned how to play the fiddle from a number of Highland teachers; considers that the BBC awards help to highlight the depth of talent in traditional music across UK, and wishes Aidan and the other winners continued success.
