Glasgow Green Live Zone will come alive with the sound of music and fun for all with Big Big BIG Sing on 27 July, from 8am – 9pm, as part of Festival 2014.
And you’re invited! Come along, bring your friends and family, make some noise, have a laugh and a dance – it’ll put a big big BIG smile on your face!
Here’s what’s going on:
8am – 11am: Musicals Marathon – join in 40 minute sessions singing favourite hits from the musicals.
9am – 3.30pm: Pied Pipers enchant the kids with songs and rhymes.
11.30am – 3.30pm: Come and Try – 45 minute sessions to try out Gaelic Mouth Music, Indian Singing, Beatboxing and more – and special family-friendly sessions too.
All day: watch out for great choirs performing on Song Stages across Glasgow Green, and enjoy sensational roving performers – Valkyries, a barbershop quartet, doo wop group and… a singing horse??
3.30pm – 6.30pm: Big Big BIG Sing (Main Stage, Glasgow Green)
At 3:30pm, the party really gets going: be part of Scotland’s biggest pop-up choir in a singing celebration of the 2014 Games starring YOU and a few thousand new friends. Big Big Sing’s exuberant team of choirleaders, led by Stephen Deazley and Eugene Skeef, will have everyone singing Commonwealth style, reprising some songs from Big Big Sing Days, as well as: irresistible pop hits, soul and reggae classics and well-loved favourites.
They’ll be joined on stage by the brilliant Soul Nation Choir, internationally renowned beatboxers Jason Singh and Bellatrix and the mighty Big Big Sing Band. There will also be performances of the winning entries from the Big Big Sing’s schools’ songwriting competition: Jump, Swim, Run by Loch Primary School and Life’s a Game by Shannon McLean, Evelyn Martin and Lucy Howie from Balfron High School.
4pm – 6pm: Vintage Tea Dance, for those who like to tap their toes, sway and sing.
7pm – 9pm: Sing-a-long-a-movie (to be announced soon – watch this space). Dressing up is optional, but encouraged.
We’ll post full details of times and locations for workshops, musical marathon, tea dance, etc soon. So check our website often and sign up to our mailing list to keep up-to-date with all the latest news and announcements.
* Please note: All timings are subject to change, should sports event times change or be delayed.
