Welcome to a new way to connect with the Scottish Gaelic Diaspora! Struileag Stories is an innovative, interactive site exploring the diaspora and we’d love to invite you to be a part of it! If you’ve already created yourself an account, we’re excited to tell you that the site is ready to go – so get sharing your stories!
Maybe your ancestors were from Scotland? We would love to know how you have ended up where you are. You don’t have to be a Gaelic speaker to get involved; indeed you don’t even have to be Scots! If you love the culture and you want to share stories and leave messages, you can sign up as a user and join us.
Check out the site at stories.struileag.com
The storytelling site is a way of connecting people, groups and communities, of sharing stories and celebrating a love of the Gaelic language and Scottish culture, and promoting it on a global stage. It’s easy to upload stories, recipes, songs, video, family histories and photos. Just create yourself a user profile, and you will be able to put yourself on the map. You can add yourself into existing story-lines by commenting or sharing, or you can create your own unique story.
You can browse the site via the map and timeline to explore some of the amazing stories of Gaelic heroes (and some villains!) throughout history who travelled far from their homelands and left their mark on countries far and wide. It also features tales of Struileag trips to different diaspora communities in America, Canada, Argentina, Chile and Russia, building links between people who share a common bond.
You can also connect with our ever-growing communities on Facebook and Twitter to hear the latest news about the project.
