Study for a Masters in Folklore, Ethnology and Ethnomusicology in Aberdeen – Applications open

Unleash your creativity with the MLitt in Ethnology & Folklore at the University of Aberdeen. Delve into Scotland’s vibrant vernacular culture through stories, music, traditions, and more. This programme offers a comprehensive exploration of Ethnology, Folklore, and Ethnomusicology, focusing on Scottish culture and traditions. Gain practical skills in archiving, audio, and video creation, and editing. The curriculum covers the history and development of these disciplines, major genres like music and narrative, and contemporary issues such as identity and ethics. Engage in fieldwork, a radio project, film project work, and digital field recording.

The Elphinstone Institute, renowned for its traditional music and folklore, provides a supportive environment with world-leading research opportunities. To join this programme (1 year full time and 2 years part time), a good undergraduate degree in humanities or social sciences is usually required (although non-conventional qualifications are also considered) along with an IELTS score of 6.5. Embrace your passion for culture and tradition with the MLitt in Ethnology & Folklore.
