Shetland Fiddle Week, Lerwick 5-9th August 2024

Shetland Fiddle Week offers a week of fiddle classes suitable for all abilities, teaching the unique Shetland fiddle style and tunes. Delivered in the beautiful Shetland Islands themselves, the week offers students a chance to absorb Shetland’s musical culture and heritage and meet members of the thriving musical community. Concerts and sessions will also take place across the week.

Shetland Fiddle Week is organised by two Shetland fiddlers – Jenna Reid and Lynda Anderson. Both brought up in Shetland and having been taught within the islands, they have been immersed in the fiddle tradition their whole lives. They are also keen event organisers who worked together on the delivery of Shetland Fiddle Frenzy for 3 years from 2014 to 2016. They are both passionate about the preservation and growth of the Shetland fiddle tradition and in providing opportunities for musicians to learn and experience this unique musical style so close to their hearts. A key focus of the week for them is to ensure students are supported through their learning and that they experience a slice of Shetland musical and community life.
