Scots Story Competition 2020 – A’ The Seas

Haw! Want tae be Young Scots Writer o the Year 2020? Enter Scottish Book Trust’s braw competition for young folk aged 11 – 18 tae scrieve a poem, a story, a play or a sang in the Scots leid.

The oweraw winner will be invitit tae receive their prize at the fantoosh Scots Language Awards ceremony on Friday 11 September 2020 at The Caird Hall in Dundee, and bear the gree o Young Scots Writer o the Year 2020.

We’ll post oot braw books to the shortlist.

THEME

The theme for this year’s competition is Till a’ the seas gang dry.

This is a line fae Robert Burns’ kenspeckle Scots poem A red, red rose.

Mibbe Robert Burns’ words will inspire ye tae scrieve aboot the Climate Emergency. Or aboot Scotland and the sea in the Year o Scotland’s Coasts and Watters. Or aboot love. Or aboot onythin ye want. It’s up tae you.

DEADLINE
The deidline for submittin yer Scots writing is Wednesday 24 June.

The winners will be annoonced on Friday 21 August.

WHIT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Scrieve a poem, a story, a play or sang under 200 words, an ane page comic or a video of you telling a story in three minutes or less. Just ane entry per person.
