Unprecedented international appeal for small island festival
Tiree Music Festival (TMF) has enjoyed its fastest ever ticket sales, with 800 early bird tickets for the event’s eleventh edition selling out in 40 minutes and all Glamping tickets snapped up in just 10 minutes.
Festival goers from all over the world, including the USA, Germany, New Zealand and the United Arab Emirates, jumped at the chance to experience the festival on Tiree taking place on 10th – 12th July 2020, which is known for the picture-pefect white sands, sunshine, fantastic line-up of folk, trad and pop acts, family activites and spotless campsites.
Unprecedented levels of online traffic from the UK, Europe, North America and Asia had organisers working hard to keep the website functioning for the thousands looking at tickets.
Last year’s 2,100-capacity event was the tenth consecutive sell-out, with TMF 2020’s remaining tickets expected to be snapped up when they go on sale at 12 noon on Sunday, 17 November.

As Scotland celebrates the Years of Coasts and Waters in 2020, TMF2020 will celebrate Tiree’s place among Scotland’s unrivalled coastline with next year’s tagline, Where the music meets the ocean.The line-up will be officially announced in early 2020.
The inaugural Tiree Music Festival took place in July 2010 and was attended by a capacity crowd of 600. The annual event has since flourished with an increased 2100-strong capacity – an attendance that is three times the population of the island.
Artists across the years have included The Fratellis, Dougie MacLean, Sharon Shannon, The Levellers, Capercaillie, Sandi Thom and Eddi Reader and In the last 10 years, the event has generated £6.4 million to the island economy.
Since it’s humble beginnings, TMF has prided itself on being a family-friendly festival with a creative programme for young people and their families, including workshops, sport, music and culture.
Often described as one of the most stunning festival locations in the world, the festival showcases the island of Tiree at its best, with visitors enjoying the beach, cycling, walking, sea tours and watersports.
