New book! Tales From The Early Scottish Folk Scene by Fraser Bruce

The book – Tales From The Early Scottish Folk Scene by Fraser Bruce – has taken nearly three years to write and during that time Fraser met and chatted with over 100 people who were part of the early folk club scene during the late 1950s and early 1960s.

The book tells the true story of what happened in those days and names the people who were really responsible for creating the folk club scene that benefits so many these days.

Included are tales about President Roosevelt, John Lomax, Alan Lomax, Ewan MacColl, Hamish Henderson, Morris Blythman, Woody Guthrie, Lonnie Donegan, Norman Buchan, Stuart MacGregor, The Polaris Marches through to The Clancy Brothers, Robin Hall & Jimmie Macgregor and their contribution to the scene we know today.

The folk ‘stories’ shine a light on the actual ‘pioneers’ of the folk music.

The book is published by ‘Living Tradition’ and edited by Pete Heywood. It is on sale at :
