New Andy M. Stewart website

Andy with Silly Wizard.

Called one of Celtic music’s most gifted singers and arguably the best songwriter in the entire folk tradition, Andy M. Stewart has been delighting audiences with his music and humour for more than three decades. Born in Perthshire, Scotland, Andy grew up in a family noted for its fine traditional singing. He first drew the attention of the music world with his work as lead singer and instrumentalist for Silly Wizard, with whom he toured until their break-up in 1988.

Andy’s son Donald has made this new website and said that ‘it was essential to keep his memory alive in the form of this new site. From self-penned songs that have become legendary in folk circles such as: ‘Valley of Strathmore;’ ‘Queen of Argyll;’ and the great ‘Ramblin’ Rover.’ Many have become staples in folk clubs on both sides of the Atlantic- from Pittsburgh, PA, to Canada and beyond. Andy M’s musical contribution was immense worldwide. Off the stage, as a Father and a friend he was kind, loving, generous, sharp and hilariously funny. This page allows friends, fans, and family members to congregate and enjoy his memory. As his son, I have the honor and privilege of looking after his legacy, and felt this page would be the best way to do so. If anyone wishes to seek permission to record his work- please email me in the link provided. Please also note, we will be further adding to the site, with music and links to his songbooks. Best, Donald Alan Stewart (son)”
