Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Hands Up for Trad!

As 2025 draws to a close, we want to extend our warmest wishes to everyone who has been part of our incredible year. To all our partners, performers, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters — thank you for making this such a brilliant year for Scottish traditional music and culture.

What a year it’s been! From the energy of Battle of The Folk Bands and the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician Award at Celtic Connections in January, through a bustling Seachdain na Gàidhlig (World Gaelic Week) and our many Distil events throughout the year, every project has brought its own special moments. The summer sunshine at Tinto Summer School created memories that will last a lifetime for our young musicians, whilst September’s Scots Language Awards in Dundee was a true celebration of our linguistic heritage. And what better way to round off the year than with the spectacular MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards at Aberdeen Music Hall earlier this month!

Each event has been made possible by the dedication and passion of countless individuals who share our commitment to Scotland’s traditional arts. Whether you’ve performed on our stages, worked behind the scenes, attended our events, or supported us by purchasing merchandise — you’ve all played a vital role in keeping our traditions alive and thriving.

As we look ahead to 2026, we’re already excited about what’s to come. New projects, familiar favourites, and plenty of opportunities to celebrate the music and culture that brings us all together.

From everyone at Hands Up for Trad, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a happy, peaceful New Year. Enjoy the festive season, and we’ll see you in 2026 for another year of fantastic traditional music and culture!

Thank you for being part of our journey.

Simon and Percy.
