Musicians > Lyth Arts Centre Charity Trustees/Board Members

Lyth Arts Centre Charity Trustees/Board Members

Lyth Arts Centre is the UK’s most northerly, mainland, Arts Centre, providing year on year high quality programming including music, dance, theatre and the visual arts from across the UK and beyond.
Due to the current Directors imminent retirement, LAC is moving forwards into a new stage of development and delivery. As such, there is a recognised need for the centre’s organisation and operational structures to be developed in order to best respond to current and future needs.

In order to take the organisation forward, and allow some of the current Committee members to retire, the Committee wish to reconstitute themselves as a Board and recruit up to 8 new non-executive Directors/Trustees to support this transition

Trustees are expected to:
– Contribute to the strategic direction of the organisation
– Champion the organisation through their networks and contacts
– Ensure the highest standards of probity and good governance

Being a Board member is an opportunity to gain insight into how Lyth Arts Centre operates, to guide the organisations’ development and to contribute to the development of the local community and national arts infrastructure.

The position of Board member is unpaid.
Reasonable expenses will be covered.

We are particularly interested in hearing from committed individuals with a strong commitment to the Cultural Sector and rural communities.
We are also seeking to appoint individuals with skills/experience that would include one or more of:

– Promoting – either in a volunteer or professional capacity

– Finance – with a comprehensive understanding of financial and management accounts, preferably in a not-for-profit environment
– Human Resources – with a comprehensive understanding of Human Resource management, preferably in a not-for-profit environment
– Not-for-profit Management – we are particularly seeking those with the experience of charities/social enterprise and organisational change.
– Marketing

– Involvement with Lyth Community – as a local resident, or with connected business or commercial activity in the vicinity of Lyth

We are open to considering participation by Skype for those with issues around access.
