Hands Up For Trad Promotes New Opportunities For Trad Stars – TourDirectory.scot

Hands Up for Trad are continuing to champion new and established trad music talent by creating the Tour Directory – a free online service point for artists, venues and promoters to access new collaborative working opportunities.

The Tour Directory is a Hands Up for Trad project offers free information to artists who are looking to make their mark on the traditional music TOURING CIRCUIT as well as promoters and venues throughout Scotland, by giving them access to the wealth of Scottish music talent available.

The project was piloted in 2016, providing a useful platform for Acts to find out about local gig info, but organisers expect 2017 to be a huge step forward for the initiative.

Hands Up for Trad continue to be at the forefront of promoting Scottish traditional music, providing much-needed platforms for artists to thrive. They recently celebrated the 14th year of their prestigious MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards, with a glittering ceremony held in, Dundee.
Hands Up for Trad exists to promote Scottish traditional music through education, information and advocacy to artists, audiences and participants throughout Scotland and beyond.

Hands Up for Trad are supported by Creative Scotland, the development body for the arts and creative industries in Scotland, who enable people and organisations to work in and experience the creative industries in Scotland by helping them to develop great ideas and bring them to life.
Event Founder and Hands Up for Trad Creative Director, Simon Thoumire, said: “We are excited to make this year the biggest celebration of trad music. With such a high calibre of burgeoning talent in the Scottish traditional music scene, as well as a real thirst for the genre, we are committed to help the industry thrive. Our Tour Directory will provide artists and friends of the industry some new and exciting opportunities. We’d like to thank Creative Scotland for their continued support – without their help, we wouldn’t be able to create such a strong network of support for musicians.”
