Great Compositions From The Late Ian Hardie Compositions Online

Ian Hardie was one of Scottish traditional music’s most talented and prolific composers, a master of all tune styles from slow airs to strathspeys and reels and a fiddler and multi-instrumentalist who has made a major contribution to the preservation and evolution of traditional music though his playing with both folk groups and dance bands. Ian passed away in 2012 and I was recently alerted that all of his tunes reside on his website. You should check them out here.

In Ian’s own words “My first two tunebooks have been out of print for some time and I do not envisage reprinting these or publishing another book. I aim to have all my compositions on this webpage (including previously unpublished material and those featured on Westringing), available for free viewing or download . The Spider’s Web book is still in print — contact me if you would like a copy — but I shall include these tunes too. It will take time to complete the notation so look out for fresh uploads.” http://www.ian-hardie.co.uk/scores.php

Ian Hardie was inducted into the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame in 2012.
