Gies A Scots Poem Day is back on Friday 13th June and it’s really braw that we are partnering with the Scottish Poetry Library to make it even better! As ever we are asking everyone to write / record / video their favourite Scots verse and post it on social media on the 13th June with the hashtag #GiesAScotsPoemDay. We look forward to seeing, hearing and reading you favourite poems!
This is the Scottish Poetry Library’s 40th anniversary. Bringing people and poems together is at the heart of everything they do, aiming to transform people’s lives through exciting experiences and creative engagement with poetry – the ‘spark o’ Nature’s fire’ as Robert Burns wrote. John Burnside wrote that ‘the more imaginative we are, the more compassionate we become’. By supporting the poetry community, creative learning programmes in schools and community settings, and offering increased access to poetry in live literature events and high-quality online resources, the Scottish Poetry Library support imagination.
