Bothy Ballad Champion of Champions

Thanks to Hugh Hoffman for this report. Home from a most enjoyable weekend in Elgin for the Bothy Ballad Champion of Champions event. Joe Aitken was the well deserved winner, with Shona Donaldson and John Dickson second and third. The other finalists were also in good voice – Allan Taylor, Hector Riddell and Ian Russell. Ian was a late stand-in for Geordie Murison who was unwell (we all send Geordie our best wishes for a speedy recovery). After the concert there was the usual late night/early morning session back at the hotel. A heavy snowfall in Elgin on Sunday afternoon just as Doris and I were about to set off to drive back to Fife but the road reports seemed okay (thanks to Gary Stewart for showing me the live traffic camera shots!) and all the snow had disappeared within a few miles.
