Block Taught PGCert in Arts Management: Sept 2016

As part of Queen Margaret University’s commitment to providing opportunities for professional development in the cultural sector, QMU offers a block taught version of its popular PGCert in Arts, Festival and Cultural Management. Specifically designed for those working full time, or those unable to come to campus on a weekly basis, the PGCert is taught in four blocks of four days (Sat to Tues) in Oct, Nov, Feb and March. This is an ideal opportunity to undertake professional development and attain a higher level qualification whilst continuing to work full time.

The course will stimulate your understanding and develop your knowledge of contemporary issues affecting the management of arts organisations and festivals. It balances vocational knowledge with critical theory to enable students to develop a broader and deeper understanding of the processes of arts management. PGCert Students study the following four modules from our popular Arts Management MA programme (some previous PGCert students have then chosen to continue with their studies and complete a full MA)

– Marketing Cultural Organisations and Festivals
– Fundraising and Development in the Arts
– Managing Cultural Projects and Festivals
– Strategic Management and Finance

QMU has been teaching arts management for over 15 years, and the course has been developed in co-operation with key national cultural agencies and other bodies with a strategic interest in the development of arts organisations and festivals. There are also strong professional links between the programme and the many arts, culture and festival organisations based in and around Edinburgh and across Scotland and the UK.

Previous attendees have come from arts organisations across Scotland and the UK. These students have found that the programme not only offers industry relevant professional development, but also provides opportunities for fostering important industry connections with their fellow students.

For 2016 entry, the cost of the qualification is £1900.

Location: Edinburgh City, England, Wales, Northern Ireland, International

The deadline is Friday 19 August 2016 at 14:45.
