From Blazin’ Fiddles. October is on its way and Blazin’ in Beauly is nearly upon us again. We’re really looking forward to the week, and are delighted to welcome some fantastic musicians.
Jenna Reid is on maternity leave, so Shetlander Ross Couper will be joining us in her stead. The wonderful Patsy Reid from Perthshire is also teaching fiddle. This will be the first time either of them has taught at Beauly so we’re planning their initiation ceremony…
Rick Taylor is an old hand at Beauly and will be back to delight the group work class this year.
Bob Massie will be hosting the slower sessions on Tuesday and Thursday, as well as providing the music for Friday’s ceilidh.
Here are a couple of videos of our guest fiddlers doing their thing:
Patsy Reid – Hooray Henry (Live at Celtic Connections 2014)
“Cathcart” – Ross Couper and Tom Oakes
Concerts
As well as the usual tuition, sessions and craic, we’ve got some fantastic concerts lined up:
Mon 9th – Michelle Burke’s “Step into my Parlour”
“You’re at your Auntie’s…” Michelle’s show is a collection of songs from the Irish tradition interspersed with stories, memories and tales in a quirky inviting parlour setting. There will be sherry, knitting and sucky sweets…
Wed 11th – Ross Couper & Tom Oakes and The Mae Trio
“The best things come in small packages…” Our mid-week gig features a duo and a trio, and brilliant examples of both. Fired up tunes from Ross and Tom meet glorious vocal harmonies from the Australian Mae Trio. Not to be missed!
Fri 13th – Blazin’ Fiddles & Friends and The Scone Fairies Ceilidh Band
“Bring your dancing shoes…” We finish the week off with our usual concert and ceilidh combo and we’re delighted to welcome Iain MacFarlane back to Beauly for a night!
“Well Enough Alone” – The Mae Trio
So, with all of that lined up, you can see why we’re looking forward to Blazin’ in Beauly more than ever this year!
See you there!
