Twelve semi-finalists competed on Saturday night in Coulter Hall, South Lanarkshire to get through to the finals of the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician Award 2020. It was a fabulous night of music with everyone performing brilliantly.
The six musicians that made it through to the final at Celtic Connections festival on Sunday 2nd February are:
Alexander Levack: Whistles (Dingwall)
Calum McIlroy: Guitar, Mandolin (Aberdeenshire)
Cameron Nixon: Scots song (Aberdeenshire)
Josie Duncan: Gaelic song (Lewis)
Mhairi Mackinnon: Fiddle (Perthshire)
Padruig Morrison: Accordion (Uist)
The whole competition will be broadcast live on BBC Radio Scotland from 5pm on 2nd February. It would be great to also see you at this brilliant show which will take place in the City Halls, Glasgow. You can buy tickets here.
2020 is the 20th anniversary of the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician Award and to celebrate this there will be a concert of all 19 previous winners in the main auditorium at Celtic Connections on the 23rd January. You can buy tickets for that here!
