Music in Hospitals Scotland aims to enhance the quality of life for people of all ages in care through the provision of professional live music. Concerts take place in hospitals, hospices, care homes, day centres and special schools, bringing the benefits of live music to people who need it most.
Our audition process ensures that we maintain the highest standards of both musicianship and communication in the delivery of our service for people in care. We currently have around 100 professional musicians who work on behalf of Music in Hospitals, providing around 1,800 live concerts each year at care units across Scotland.
Music in Hospitals’ musicians are professional performers and come from a wide variety of musical backgrounds. They are selected as soloists, duos and occasionally as trios. Auditions will be held on Sunday 15th May 2016 in Edinburgh and must be applied for, using the forms on our website (link below).
Music in Hospitals concerts mostly take place on weekday afternoons. We provide a service that reaches the whole of Scotland; the outer isles, remote rural areas as well as main cities and towns. Since many of the concert venues are not easily accessible on public transport, and particularly when transporting instruments, it is advantageous to have your own car. Please note that musicians without transport will only be able to be engaged on a limited basis.
