A fantastic opportunity for young fiddlers in Edinburgh!

The Scots Fiddle Festival are looking for talented young fiddlers/violinists aged 12-18 to be part of the Scots Fiddle Festival Outreach Project & perform at the Scots Fiddle Festival at The Queen’s Hall, Edinburgh on the 19th of November.

The concert will be celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the festival and the outreach project will be supporting some huge names in traditional music: Aonghas Grant, Catriona Macdonald, Aidan O’Rourke, Liz Docherty, Paul Anderson, Chris Stout, Allan MacDonald & Mhairi Hall.

Participants will work with professional musicians to build repertoire, meet other young musicians, develop skills and gain confidence in arranging, learning by ear, working as a group, talking to audiences, learning to use microphones, as well as the experience of recording at a top Edinburgh recording studio and performing at one of Scotland’s biggest traditional music festivals.

All workshops and performances will take place in Edinburgh – participants may come from any part of Scotland as long as they can make the workshop and performance dates. Accommodation can be provided for those travelling from long distances.

Auditions will be held on the 1st & 2nd of October with workshops on 30th October, 6th November & the 12th & 13th November, with the performance on Sat 19th of November. There is no cost for participants to be involved in this project.

If you are interested in auditioning or for more information contact: elaine@scotsfiddlefestival.com by the 19th September
