On Monday the 2nd September 2024, Chamber Music Scotland is launching a new Small Venues Touring Fund to support Scotland-based musicians to tour small venues across the country.
Supported by Creative Scotland, the Small Venues Touring Fund will distribute grants of up to £5000 to cover performance fees.
The aims of the fund are to:
- Support musician’s own touring plans.
- Platform the quality and innovation within the chamber music sector in Scotland.
- Allow artists to decide where and what they play.
- Encourage tours rather than ‘one-off’ performances.
- Platform for new, innovative and experimental chamber music, as well as traditional.
- Reach new chamber music audiences and communities, where access to arts experiences may be limited.
- Ensure appropriate rates of pay for musicians.
Who is the fund for?
This fund is for free-lance musicians who currently live and work in Scotland.
Who cannot apply?
- Promoters/Venues.
- Constituted ensembles supported by Creative Scotland/Scottish Government.
Fund Timeline:
- Fund opens – 2nd September 2024
- Deadline for applications – 12pm Wednesday 23rd October 2024
- Outcomes communicated to applicants by the end of November 2024.
- Tour Activity – January 2025 to December 2025
