First from the new album In Buenos Aires.
featuring: Walther E Castro on bandoneon, Quique Sinesi on guitar and Mono Hurtado on double bass.
I’m delighted to present my new album, “In Buenos Aires” It was recorded in that famous city, in June 2015.
My initial attraction was the bandoneon, from the concertina family of instruments, with it’s beautiful, plaintive sound, known, for example, in the new tango music of Piazzolla.
From Buenos Aires, Walther E. Castro is the leading bandoneon exponent who received an unexpected email from a Scottish whistle/bagpipe player suggesting some music making! His generous acceptance and subsequent invitations to Quique Sinesi, the Latin Grammy winning guitarist, and double bassist, Mono Hurtado, made this recording happen.
This album is the first of a series 3; the results of an Artist Bursary award from Creative Scotland. I’m looking forward to tell you about the next 2 albums, also from equally inspiring locations, but all in good time!
