Silken Snood by Lilian Ross

lilianrossThis song is taken from Lilian’s Album “Thorns and Roses”. Her own composition written in Scots in the style of a traditional ballad, this is a warning song, typical of historic ballads a Mother or Grandmother might have sung to a young lass highlighting the dangers of lust.

Born and brought up in the singing lands of Buchan, Aberdeenshire steeped in the rich oral culture Lilian was influenced by traditional ballads, the poetry of Burns and the love of Scottish music. Lilian sings and writes traditional songs in Scots, Doric and also writes contemporary folk songs in English. Lilian is a warm and generous performer, at her best in intimate settings with a dedicated listening audience.
