Music Scotland are the ninth recipients of Hands Up for Trad’s Business Limelight Award. The “Limelight’s” are a monthly initiative (launched in October 2012) that recognises the outstanding contributions made by businesses and organisations who contribute, shape and influence the arts and cultural sector in Scotland today. Music Scotland have been providing an excellent online presence and brilliant service for Scottish music since 1999.
We asked Jean Gillies of Music Scotland a few questions about the business.

What made you want to work in Scottish culture?
I have always actively promoted our traditions. From an early age I have been involved and influenced by cultural music. Living in Oban, the gateway to the Western Isles you are surrounded by Scottish culture. We have much to celebrate, nurture and carry forward.
Can you tell us of any particular company highlights?
2005 Scots Trad Music Awards Services To Industry Award Winner.
What are your company’s plans for the future?
This comes at a significant time for the business. Interesting changes ahead allied to our Music Shop in Argyll Square, Oban…..so watch this space!
