Sound Sense PA Hire & Recording Services (Moffat) are the 4th recipients of Hands Up for Trad’s Business Limelight Award. The “Limelight’s” are a monthly initiative (launched in October 2012) that recognises the outstanding contributions made by businesses and organisations who contribute, shape and influence the arts and cultural sector in Scotland today. Soundsense have served Scotland’s festivals and musicians for many years always willing to take time to help and advise as well delivering strong and solid sound performances to our many bands at home and abroad.
We asked John Weatherby of Sound Sense PA Hire & Recording Services the following questions.

What is your principle company activity?
Providing PA equipment and personell for concerts and festivals.
Recording company – studio and location.
Specialising in traditional music.
When and where did the company first start trading?
Started trading in glasgow 1986
What made you want to work in Scottish culture?
Ongoing love of traditional music, and wanting to make a contribution to keeping it alive.
Can you tell us of any particular company highlights?
Working at Orkney Folk Festival for 27 years!
Closely followed by Girvan Festival and Glenfarg Folk Feast. Touring Europe, Canada and USA with various bands.
Apart from the festivals, one of the best things is having made good friends all over the world – through either touring, or doing sound for people over here.
What are your company’s plans for the future?
Continued expansion and upgrading of equipment to provide an ongoing
better service.
How will you celebrate receiving Hands Up for Trad’s Business
Limelight award?
