Fiddle player Eryn Rae was named BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician 2022. The 21 year old, from Jedburgh but now living in Glasgow, accepted the award from Gareth Hydes, Commissioning Editor, BBC Scotland, in a year that saw the prestigious competition return to the City Halls for the first time in two years. She started playing the instrument at the age of seven, under the tuition of Shetland fiddler Catriona Macdonald. Eryn has been playing in Scottish singer-songwriter Callum Beattie’s band and toured with Amy Macdonald when he supported her last year. She also performs with Michael Biggins, who won BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician Award, and has played alongside singer folk legend Dougie MacLean and was previously a finalist in the finalist in the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards.
