#WorldPlayAStrathspeyDay 2025 3rd May. Can you take part?

#WorldPlayAStrathspeyDay returns on Saturday 3rd May 2025 at 1pm. This worldwide event invites musicians everywhere to share their love of Scottish music by recording themselves playing a strathspey and sharing it on social media with the hashtag #WorldPlayAStrathspeyDay.

Strathspeys are uniquely Scottish dance tunes, and since 2019, this annual celebration has brought together players from across the globe to showcase this distinctive musical style.

Taking part is easy – simply record yourself playing a strathspey on any instrument, then share your video or audio recording to social media using the hashtag #WorldPlayAStrathspeyDay.

Don’t miss our special TradFest concert at 3pm on 6th May in Edinburgh, featuring an outstanding lineup of musicians: pianist Rory Matheson joins fiddlers Laura Wilkie, Anna Robertson and Adam Sutherland for an afternoon of traditional Scottish music including strathspeys, reels and marches. You can buy a ticket here.

Whether you’re a musician or music lover, help us spread the joy of Scottish traditional music across the world!
