Hands Up for Trad’s Trad Music Spotlight is a monthly feature on a band or solo artist. It was first launched in February 2015 and features musicians who are working in the trad scene – both in Scotland and around the world. We asked Chris Stout & Catriona McKay a few questions.
What’s happening?
We are composing music and recording for a new album due for release in the summer 2016. Having performed, collaborated and recorded with various projects we are very excited to be releasing our next actual duo allium since 2010!
When was the band formed?
We started performing way back in 1995!
What excites you about performing Scottish music?
Scottish music has become an all-encompassing genre, a huge playground of ideas in which to roam. It’s unique cultural identity is strong and well regraded throughout the world. It’s always a pleasure to take the music which is closest to us, put our hearts and souls into it, and perform it for the enjoyment of others.
What’s next for you?
2016 will see a new duo album. We are excited to feature on internationally renowned classical pianist, Barry Douglas’ next Celtic album for the Chandos label. We will be performing concerts in UK and abroad.
