Tiree Music Festival (TMF) has unveiled the economic impact figures for its 2024 edition, with the July event generating a £1.3 million boost for the Inner Hebridean island and region. The multi award-winning festival’s success has once again been recognised with two national award nominations.
The festival has contributed a significant £9.4 million to the island economy over its 12 editions, attracting upwards of 24,000 people to the white sand shores of Tiree for what has become a much-loved celebration of Scottish music, culture and outdoor activity.
Analysis of the 2024 edition also showed that the beachside event, located in one of the world’s most remote and stunning festival locations, continues to attract growing numbers of visitors from outside of Scotland, with nearly a fifth making the journey to Tiree from other parts of the UK, Europe and further afield.
The festival was a huge hit with attendees, with 80% rating the festival as excellent and not one attendee noting it as average or disappointing.
The success has earned the festival two national award nominations. TMF is shortlisted for Festival of the Year 2024 at the Scottish Live Music Awards and Small Event of the Year at the National Outdoor Events Association Awards 2024.
Organisers of the boutique festival now have their sights set on summer 2025, revealing that the festival will take place from 11 – 13 July, and tickets will go on sale exclusively to their mailing list at 5pm, Friday 29 November.
The festival’s two stages – The Big Top and Elevate Stage – along with its acoustic tent known as The Wee Top, will once again be jam packed with Scottish and international artists spanning roots, Celtic, folk, acoustic and pop music. The first names on the bill will be unveiled in the coming months.
In 2025 visitors can also expect new art installations on site and, building on the popularity of this year’s beach yoga sessions and other additional activities around the island, an even broader fringe programme with a focus on wellness and family-friendly fun.
The festival volunteers, known for their flash mob performances, will return with a new routine that encourages audiences to join in, and event-goers should be on the lookout for other pop-up performances across the site in 2025. Also new for next year will be a meet-and-greet zone, giving fans the chance to chat and get photos with their favourite artists.
The festival will continue to place an emphasis on looking at new ways to reduce its carbon footprint and bring quality Scottish food and drink to the fore.
With a limited capacity of just 2,100 and 13 consecutive sell outs to its name, Tiree Music Festival is famously a ‘hot ticket’. Passes for its 2025 edition are once again expected to be popular with people of all ages looking to experience its world-class line ups, friendly atmosphere and intimate feel in its unique setting in what is often dubbed “the Hawaii of the North”.
Daniel Gillespie, Artistic Director for Tiree Music Festival, said: “Tiree Music Festival has once again demonstrated its immense value to the island’s economy and its international reputation. As a team we are driven by doing Tiree proud and sharing what a special place this is with others. To hear that so many people loved their time at the festival and on the island this summer only inspires us to continue delivering the very best small festival experience for all.
“We are incredibly proud to be nominated for two national awards this year – this recognition means a great deal to our small team who work tirelessly to make TMF what it is. For 2025 we’re looking to build on this success and explore new ways that we can put a smile on people’s faces and create unforgettable memories. We can’t wait to see 2,100 of you back celebrating with us in July.”
