The Land We Call Home – Songs and Tales by Andy Mitchell

It was through first-hand experience that Andy commented with insightful and often humorous songs and tales on the immense changes he saw throughout the Highlands, particularly in the fishing industry. Large full colour book with 25 original songs and over fifty archive photographs. Get it here.
Songs are available on Bandcamp: https://andy-mitchell.bandcamp.com/

BOOK LAUNCH EVENTS

Tuesday September 9th,  at 7pm in Coigach Community Hall

Ronan Martin and Valerie Bryan will talk about the background to the project and its archival value, and answer any questions.

There will be recordings of Andy’s songs, and food supplied by Tanera.

Wednesday September 10th, at 7 pm, at the Ceilidh Place Venue in Ullapool

We will be singing and playing some of Andy’s songs, joined by local musicians Mairearad Green, Michael Bryan, and Kim Richards, who also illustrated the book.

Sadly, due to deteriorating health, Andy himself is unlikely to be present at either event.  However we plan to present the book quietly to Andy in his home in Portree, soon after his 80th Birthday on August 21st.
