Broadwood Stadium will welcome some of the biggest names on the Scottish music scene for brand new one day festival Live by the Loch. This unmissable event will take place at Broadwood Stadium, Cumbernauld on Saturday 2nd June 2018.
Broadwood: Live by the Loch will welcome some of the best Scottish musical talent for a jam-packed night of entertainment. Only a 20-minute drive from the centre of Glasgow, with easy bus and train links to and from the city, this brand-new festival is the latest event to be announced on the Scottish traditional music scene.
Live by the Loch will welcome the legendary Dougie MacLean to open the night. As he celebrates 40 years since the release of ‘Caledonia’, one of Scotland’s best-known songs, Dougie will be entertaining the Broadwood Stadium crowds with his catalogue of music that he has performed world-wide to millions over the last four decades.
Carrying on the night of music will be Trad-Rock band Mànran, one of the best-known and best-loved bands on the Scottish folk scene today. In huge demand, Mànran continue to tour Europe and beyond, playing a number of prestigious festivals throughout the year. At Live by the Loch Mànran will play to a festival home-crowd for the first time since their sold-out show at Celtic Connections earlier this year.
Finishing the night in style at Live by the Loch will be the Red Hot Chilli Pipers. This world-renowned bagpipe rock band went from a cameo appearance at T in the Park in 2004 with The Darkness to opening the main stage in their own right in 2014. The past ten years have seen the Red Hot Chilli Pipers become one of the most famous and most loved bagpipe bands in the world.
There will be food and beverages available and organisers hope for an all-inclusive atmosphere with a number of activities that will keep the whole family entertained to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
Kevin MacDonald, founding member of The Red Hot Chilli Pipers, said: “We are delighted to perform at Broadwood Stadium on Saturday 2nd June 2018. One of the founding members of the band, Willie Armstrong, still stays in Cumbernauld and I also lived in Cumbernauld for a number of years and I still have close family there so this truly does feel like a home town gig for us. We are really looking forward to friends and family coming along to experience this exciting new event.”
Gary Innes, founding member of Mànran, said: “We can’t wait to play Broadwood Stadium. Live by the Loch will be the first music event to ever have been hosted here and it’s really exciting to be a part of that. We’re hoping to see lots of familiar and new faces along on Saturday 2nd June!”
Emma Walker, Managing Director of North Lanarkshire Leisure said:“It’s really exciting to be bringing a major new music festival to Cumbernauld – we’ve got a great line-up arranged and I’m sure people will look forward to coming along and enjoy the entertainment.
“Broadwood Stadium is a perfect venue for large-scale events such as this we’re hoping Live by the Loch can become an annual event.
“Tickets will be limited and are expected to sell out fast so make sure you don’t miss out.”
