SEALL’s Fèis an Eilein is the Highland Community Initiative of the Year

SEALL is delighted that ‘Fèis an Eilein’ was named as ‘Community Initiative of the Year, 2014’ at the Highland Third Sector Awards in Dingwall last night.

It is particularly good that the resurrection of the Fèis as a two month community project in Sleat was recognised. It is also reassuring, in the face of financial cuts particularly to the arts sector, that the ‘Third Sector’ ie Community Volunteers, recognise the importance of arts events and culture in developing and sustaining community life.
Well done everyone involved in this year’s Fèis. This was one of the few awards that went to a named project, not an individual – and there were many inspiring people on the night
