Scottish Book Trust’s New Writers Award

Scottish Book Trust’s New Writers Award highlight and nurture some of the most exciting new writing talent in Scotland.

Awardees receive tailored support including a cash bursary, mentoring, a writing retreat, training in Press and PR and the opportunity to showcase their work to publishers and agents.

Applications are welcome across six categories, including two new categories for Scots and Spoken Word.

The awards are free to apply to and all travel expenses are covered. We also have an Access Fund available to help support our awardees with any barriers they may face.

Rachelle Atalla New Writers Awardee 2015 and author of The Pharmacist (Hodder and Stoughton) said: ‘Receiving this award was monumental to me and came at such a pivotal point in my writing. It provided me with a tailored package of support and offered me a nurturing environment in which to develop as a writer. Fast forward and my debut novel will be released in May 2022. I will be forever grateful to Scottish Book Trust for the role they played in getting me there and their endless enthusiasm and encouragement.’

For more information on how to how to apply, please visit the New Writers Awards section of our website: www.scottishbooktrust.com/writing-and-authors/new-writers-awards

The deadline for applications is Wednesday 13th July.
