NYPBS Ensembles Applications Are Open Now!

Applications are now open for young pipers and drummers aged 10-25 from across Scotland to join the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland (NYPBS), the premier youth development programme from The National Piping Centre. NYPBS Ensembles provide unique opportunities for the top young players to connect, form lifelong friendships, and challenge themselves to grow as musicians through our one-of-a-kind training and performance experiences outside the competition space.

Applications close August 20th. Rehearsals and performances run from October 2024-April 2025, with extracurricular opportunities often extending into the summer.

After the initial application forms, eligible applicants will be invited to the next phase: Auditions Workshops in September, where applicants will have the opportunity to work on concert repertoire together and individual conversations with a panel.

As an annual project, applications are required for each year of activity. The NYPBS panel assesses everyone as a whole. Both new and returning members must complete the application form. During the audition workshops, the panel will offer places for each individual in the ensemble they’ll gain the most in this year.

To learn more and apply, visit: https://www.nypbs.co.uk/applications.

Steven Blake, NYPBS’ Director said “Places are free but limited, so if you’re interested in challenging yourself and becoming part of our community, apply now.”
