Reel Kids Music Club is an independent provider of after school music classes for primary aged children in Glasgow. Weekly classes offer the opportunity for group learning on a variety of instruments as well as singing in a choir. The Club offers Mini classes to P2 children which are based on a Kodály approach to music education which develop fundamental music skills for learning an instrument.
As a result of a successful Creative Scotland bid we are looking to recruit 2 experienced Music Tutors to work at a new Club at Dunard Primary School located in the Maryhill area of Glasgow, from September 2016.

Whistle Teacher -to teach two 30 minute classes to P2 & P4 children using a Kodály based approach
Musicianship Tutor –to teach two 30 minute musicianship sessions to P2 &P4 children using a Kodály based approach.
Person Specification:
-Be a passionate music educator with considerable experience of leading/delivering music classes for primary aged children.
-Be a music graduate qualified to degree level
-Have a good singing voice of appropriate pitch and a competent instrumentalist able to perform on at least one musical instrument to a high standard.
-Be knowledgeable about a Kodály approach to music education. Be able to plan music classes/lessons that are age appropriate, engaging and which progressively and systematically develop children’s musical skills, knowledge and understanding.
-Be able to work collaboratively with music tutors and other professionals (including joint lesson planning when needed)
-Be able to effectively communicate with young children and other teaching staff
Fees-Whistle and Musicianship Tutor
The contract is for an initial period of 30 weeks (until June 2017) at an hourly rate of £35 per hour. These posts are available on a freelance basis only. Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate they are registered to pay their own tax and national insurance.
