Music Instructor (Lower Strings) – Aberdeen City

We are looking to recruit a Music Instructor (Lower Strings) to deliver quality music tuition to assigned pupils on an individual or group basis, and to contribute to the professional and corporate life of the Music Service in relation to pupils, parents, staff and schools.

The post holder will be expected to:
• Delivery of instrumental music tuition to pupils on an individual or group basis where appropriate.
• To teach the whole range of instruments applicable to the discipline involved with the exception of stringed instruments where range can be either upper or lower.
• To plan and prepare appropriate work for pupils.
• To assess, record and report on the work via the assigned “Pupil Progress Diary”
• To present the opportunity for pupils to participate in national practical examinations
To ensure that as many pupils as possible are presented with the opportunity of receiving quality instrumental tuition.
• To maintain good order and discipline among pupils and to safeguard their Health and Safety.
• To advise and guide pupils on matters relating to their instruments.
• To become familiar with the whole range of instruments in the subject family.
• To encourage pupils to participate in School and Music Centre ensembles
• To liaise with the Head Teachers and Music staff in order to promote the instrumental skills of the pupils.
• To contribute to the continuing development of the orchestral/band rehearsals.
• To either direct an ensemble or to assist in the weekly rehearsal activity applicable to the discipline involved.
• To be involved in the organisation and operation of concerts on an agreed basis.

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:
• Recognised National Music Degree / Diploma.
PVG Membership for Regulated works with Children and/or Protected Adults or willingness to obtain prior to a formal offer of employment being made.
Full or provisional GTC (Scotland) Registration in relevant subject.
