Moray music festival to welcome trad royalty for debut performances in 2026

Karen Matheson

Scottish music festival Speyfest has unveiled the first acts on its 2026 line up, with Scottish and Irish traditional music royalty set to grace its stages next summer including Northern Ireland’s energetic trad pop outfit The Tumbling Paddies and Scotland’s acclaimed songstress Karen Matheson.

Alongside The Tumbling Paddies, the scene’s brightest new talent Astro Bloc and bonafide Celtic folk greats Dallahan, will make their first ever appearances at the festival.

Taking place from Friday 24th – Sunday 26th July 2026 in the village of Fochabers near Elgin, Speyfest 2026 will be the event’s remarkable 29th edition.

The first four names on the 2026 bill – which will appeal to fans of all ages – have been released as limited early bird tickets go on sale today at www.speyfest.com.

Earlier this summer, the event welcomed attendances of 4,500 across its three days, including visitors from Scotland, England, Sweden, Germany and the US, as the local playing fields were transformed into a bustling tented village for the weekend.

Speyfest Chair Ashleigh Macgregor said: “Speyfest is all about bringing the very best in traditional music to this part of the world, so we’re delighted to have three outstanding acts make their debut performance next year. It’s incredibly important to us that we showcase new sounds in the area and champion the variety of world-class music on the scene today, so it’s only fitting that we are bringing trad music royalty to Speyside next summer. Music fans of all ages come to Speyfest and the 2026 line up will once again speak to the multi-generational appeal of this long-standing event. The festival is a year in the making and it is great to be able to unveil the first of our plans for the summer as our community-driven festival continues to go from strength to strength.”

Alongside 30 show-stopping musical performances across two stages, song and instrument workshops, crafts, a fun run, pub sessions, kids activities, yoga and more, make up the Speyfest programme each year.

Speyfest 2026 takes place from Friday 24th – Sunday 26th July 2026 for its 29th edition. Early bird tickets are on sale from 10am, Friday 29th August. Visit www.speyfest.com.
