Latest news from fiddler Ryan Young.
I’m so pleased to share with you some great news in my first ever newsletter (I told you that they would be infrequent!), so thanks very much for signing up. As I’m on the cusp of leaving the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and stepping out into the big wide world of music, I’m so excited and honoured to be starting a collaboration with three-times Grammy award-winning producer, Jesse Lewis.
Boston-based Jesse can normally be found working with the likes of Yo-Yo Ma, Jan Vogler, Bela Fleck, The Boston Symphony Orchestra, The Silk Road Ensemble and Brooklyn Rider. And now he’s agreed to produce and record ‘wee Ryan’s’ debut album!
Jesse flew over from Boston for three days to join me on a hunt for possible venues in which to record the album later in the year. I can’t tell you what a thrill it is to have him come all the way over to Scotland to work with me.
Once the album is released in 2017, I’ll make sure that it is available to newsletter subscribers at a special price to say ‘thank you’ for your interest in my music. There may also be opportunities to attend some of the recording sessions as well (sorry to be vague but this depends on permision from the venue being obtained) so tell your friends to sign up for the newsletter to be in with a chance of seeing Jesse Lewis working with me in the creative environment.
In the meantime, I’ll be doing some performances in Scotland and Ireland. One upcoming event is worthy of special mention: I will be appearing in July at the Willie Clancy Week at Miltown Malbay in Ireland in July. If anyone is going to be over there for the music, make sure you pop along and say hi!
My gigs are always listed here http://www.ryanyoung.scot/gigs.html
Like all emerging artists, I hugely appreciate all the assistance you can give; so please tell your friends, tell promoters, shout it from the rooftops.
Thanks again for your interest in my music, it really means so much to me.
Ryan
