Don’t miss this! The Second Aberdeen “FluteFling” [ plus whistles ! ]

After a successful event last year, and a very successful “twin” event in Edinburgh earlier this year, the date of the 2nd Aberdeen “FluteFling” is the weekend surrounding Sat.17th November 2018.

There will be one major difference this year in that – as we did in Edinburgh – we will be inviting whistle players [“soprano” and “low”] to join with the flute players for classes and sessions.

The programme for the weekend will be similar to last year :

Friday evening [ 16th ] – “welcome session” – very informal.

Saturday 17th – we will divide students into 3 classes – 2 flute [ “beginner” and “intermediate” ] and 1 class for both types of whistle.

The 3 classes will receive tuition from all 3 of our tutors over the course of the day.

The tutors this year will be Gordon Turnbull [ “simple-system” flute ] and Sharon Creasey [ “Boehm-system” ], and we are especially pleased to have obtained the services of Dougie Pincock as guest tutor / speaker.

Dougie’s main instrument is the Highland bagpipes, but he is an excellent player of flute and whistle, and for 7 years was a member of the “Battlefield Band”. He has been the director of the “School for Excellence in Traditional Music”, based in Plockton on the west coast of Scotland since 2000.

Saturday evening – session, with perhaps a few brief “performance” spots from the tutors.

Sunday – lunchtime / afternoon – “Farewell session”.

Costs are the same as for last year : Full price £50 – concession price £40.

I will add the link for signing up when it has been created, which will be quite soon.

If anyone has any queries in advance, please ask and I will do my best to reply.

Hope to meet some of you there, Kenny Hadden
