Come Along to the Distil Rehearsal Room this Monday 6th October, Scottish Music Centre, Glasgow

Monday 6th October | 10am–3:30pm | Scottish Music Centre, Glasgow

You’re invited to watch something special – a day of rehearsals where brand new music is explored and tried out.

Five traditional musicians – Bede Paterson, Sophie Rocks, Rhona Smith, Laura Penman, and Miguel Girao – have each written a short piece of music for string quartet. On Monday, they’ll hear their work played for the first time by Mr McFall’s Chamber, one of Scotland’s leading music groups.

This is a working day where composers and musicians try things out together. You’ll see them exploring the music, talking about what works, and giving feedback. It’s a rare chance to watch how new music develops.

These musicians spent a weekend in April learning about composition at Wiston Lodge. Now they’re ready to hear their work come to life and get expert advice on how to develop their pieces further.

Everyone is welcome to drop in and watch this creative process in action.
