BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician Award Finalists 2023

Twelve young musicians from all over Scotland took part in the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician Award on Sunday 30th October. It was a brilliant concert and each musician performed exceptionally well giving the panel of judges quite a task choosing the 6 finalists. In the end after lots of deliberation they chose the following finalists.

Aidan Moodie – guitar, song (Orkney)
Ailis Sutherland – pipes (Kirriemuir)
Amy Laurenson – piano (Shetland)
Madeleine Stewart – fiddle (New England, USA)
Mairi Mcgillivray – song (Islay)
Sam Mabbett – accordion (Oxfordshire)

Have a listen for yourself on the BBC iPlayer! You can listen on Travelling Folk (BBC Radio Scotland) and watch on BBC ALBA.

The BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician Award Finals will be held at Celtic Connections Festival on Sunday 5th February at the City Halls, Glasgow. You be able to listen again on BBC Radio Scotland from 5pm. Find out more at www.bbc.co.uk/youngtrad
