Battle of The Folk Bands 2023: Falasgair

Falasgair are finalists in Battle of The Folk Bands 2023. The Finals will be held at Celtic Connections Festival on January 21st 2023 in Glasgow’s Belhaven Brewery. Buy a ticket here.

Falasgair are an exciting and energetic five-piece at the forefront of Scotland’s traditional music scene. The band came together in 2021 in the Isle of Skye and the city of Glasgow. The band consists of whistle and bagpipe duo Dougal McKiggan and Finn MacPherson, guitar and bouzouki player Caetano Hayes Pelletti, keyboard player Ben Muir, and bodhran player Eoghainn Beaton. Members have studied at prestigious music schools such as the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and The Plockton School of Excellency in traditional music. Falasgair brings its exciting live performances to audiences at music festivals, concert and village halls and many private events.

Community is at the heart of the band. The Isle of Skye is a tight-knit community where neighbours live side by side. Glasgow is well known for being a melting pot of cultures, which has influenced the band greatly. The city celebrates all styles of Scottish traditional music, whilst simultaneously welcoming folk traditions the world over. This is an ethos of openness and creativity that Falasgair aims to apply to everything we do.
